It’s Past Time to Brake Spring Break

The first few weeks of Spring Break 2025 in Panama City Beach were peaceful, even enjoyable, outside of the usual traffic congestion. But then, in the last week of March, certain schools from Alabama had their turn at it, and all of a sudden it was Spring Break-‘n-Entry as the Rape Stars flooded into the coast. With them came violence and rapine on levels which probably exceeded those of past years in a very brief time. We say “probably” because in 2022, there were 160 arrests and 75 guns confiscated during “Spring Break”, mostly in the midst of the “Panamaniac” orgy which was sponsored by a handful of businesses, the same businesses that cater to the same crowd of thugs every year: Harpoon Harry’s, Hammerhead Fred’s, Coyote Ugly and Longboards. There may be others, however these are the most prominent of the bunch. But not even in 2022 did Pier Park look like the aftermath of a prison riot.

Is it really worth the revenue? We speak to service workers and business owners quite often. These thugs don’t tip the waiters, don’t tip bartenders, and quite frequently they don’t even pay the bill. We have witnessed them skipping out of restaurants such as the Buffalo Wild Wings at Pier Park, without paying their bills. We have known property managers who have related to us the horrors of renting to these thugs, and the repairs and replacements which had to be made to the amenities which they had rented. We have spoken to people employed in the maintenance of rentals and have heard veritable horror stories about the messes that they leave. In the meantime, people who would otherwise actually be paying their bills without leaving a wake of destruction won’t even go near the Beach for weeks. We know, because we are among them.

The video displayed here is a rant which we found on Tiktok, of a Panama City local who is evidently disgusted with the “kids”. While his attitude is justified, and while he knows what “kids” are behind it all, he just won’t say it. Nobody will. And it will never be fixed until we do say it. So we will say it. These are not just “kids”, they are predominantly BLACK “KIDS” from their teens and well into their twenties, or sometimes even older as thugs and drug dealers come along with the crowds in order to take advantage of the moment. Sure, there are exceptions … there are always exceptions. But the exceptions must not provide excuses for the general criminal behavior of these BLACK “kids” year in and year out.

Furthermore, they have NO respect for authority. To them, the police are only an inconvenient obstacle. The recent Pier Park shooting is exemplary of that fact, as it took place within fifty feet of the nearest police officer, in an area where there was a large police presence. Are the businesses which profit from the presence of these thugs going to compensate the residents who suffer their presence? We seriously doubt they even care… or they would not cater to them any longer. Not noticing a pattern is an excuse. Purposely ignoring patterns is totally irresponsible and in this case, criminally negligent.
